Are we allowed to bring small backpacks?

Unless things have changed this year, i don't think you will have a problem taking a small backpack.

Last year i carried a  messenger bag and had no problems.

I would call the pavilion & ask cause last year they said no backpacks. I called there today to ask about unbrellas, which we are allowed but only the small pocket sized ones.

We had to check our umberellas at Rock n America last year. Basically leave them buy the gate in a pile, even if they were small, some people got them in but my lil pocket one got confiscated. Someone ended up stealing it from the pile, pissed me off! It was a cute zebra umbrella.

I just called the Merriweather.  The person I spoke to said that small backpacks are fine.

So 2010 & 2011, backpacks were allowed as I brought one in each year. 2012 they did not allow backpacks, but gigundous bags(beach and purses) were ok. What will be allowed this year and when will we know about it?
